The Strawberry Line Cycle Hire & Route
Possibly one of Somerset’s most popular cycle paths, the Strawberry Line offers ten miles of beautiful scenery from Yatton to Cheddar and is the perfect place to hire bikes in Cheddar for all the family to explore. It follows the former Great Western Railway route of the same name which carried passengers and freight trains from 1869 to 1965. The route, which is mostly flat, is also used by walkers, runners, and horse riders and offers an enjoyable day out for a single rider or the whole family.
What is it?
The Strawberry Line Heritage Trail is a 10-mile traffic-free route through the heart of North Somerset linking the Levels to the Mendip Hills.

Places to see on route
The Strawberry Line has a variety of landscapes from the flat marshes and cider apple orchards around Yatton, steep wooded valleys, and a tunnel through the Mendips, to historic Axbridge and the spectacular Cheddar Gorge.
How long does it take?
Cycling from Yatton train station to Cheddar Gorge via Cheddar Reservoir (10 miles) is estimated to take about 2-3 hours. The Strawberry Line can be accessed from different points so can be made shorter or longer to suit you and your family.
